Activities Around Castle Provincial Park

One of the newest additions to Alberta’s Provincial Parks, Castle Provincial Park was established in 2017 and is home to some incredible rugged views, thick forest, rolling foothills, clean mountain lakes and rivers and secluded meadows full of wildflowers. It’s much more wild, raw and serene here as opposed to the more heavily touristed parks such as Banff, Jasper or Waterton. Though it may not be as touristy of a destination, there’s plenty to keep you busy in Castle Provincial Park! Here are some of the activities you can try next time you stay with us!

Castle Falls

This is a must see spot in Castle Provincial Park! A sight to truly behold, Castle Falls is a five minute trek from the parking lot and boasts a beautiful, crystal clear mountain river. You can set up a picnic, listen to the cascade of water after you’ve gone for a swim, or just simply enjoy the cliffs and rocky splendor of the falls. For those thrill seekers, there are places you can cliff jump, but we always advise you to check the depth of the water first as natural depth fluctuation occurs and it could be unsafe to jump! This is the perfect place to spend a full day or an afternoon with the kids, just be sure to bring some good books for down time!

Hiking, Biking and Exploring

There are plenty of trails with various levels of difficulty and length for you to choose from around Castle Provincial Park, but one thing you can be sure of is that every trail has a gorgeous view! For mountain biking loops three hours and under, check out the Sycline River Loop, Racer’s Loop, Chickadee and Meadow Loop or Chinook Loop. You’re welcome to hike these trails too, but also check out Beaver Mines Lakeside, Club Peak, Heather’s Loop, Poker Peak or Spades Peak as these are excellent trails for hiking. You can find all of these trails listed on AllTrails, a handy website for advanced and beginner hikers and bikers!

Beaver Mines Lake

If you’re more interested in relaxing by the water, you can wander down to Beaver Mines Lake right from your accommodation with us at Glamping Resorts! The lake is excellent for rainbow trout, bull trout and cutthroat trout fishing and you can even bring your boat and take advantage of the day use boat launch. The use of ATVs is permitted in the area on designated paths and you’re welcome to bring and use your own during the summer months. With a small sandy beach for you to enjoy, Beaver Mines Lake is a perfect place to swim for the day. Paddle boarding and kayaking are popular pastimes, though you’ll have to supply your own.

With the wilderness surrounding you, there’s plenty for you to do in Castle Provincial Park. When you’ve returned from your day of hiking, swimming, fishing or biking, you can be assured you’ll have a delightfully soft place to lay your head at night with us at Glamping Resorts. We provide cards, select board games, puzzles and books for rainy days or for days you simply want to take it easy. However you want to spend your time, Castle Provincial Park has something for you.
