Being out on the water during the summer months is the perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon, either exploring or just enjoying the sunshine. If you don’t have a canoe or a kayak to bring with you, don’t worry, Lifes a Beach Rentals or Squirrely Putt & Play have you covered! There are even paddle boats and paddle boards available to rent too! With a beach for you to set up for the day, you can also spend your time swimming, floating or frolicking in the lake. Biking, Hiking and Trail Running

There are several excellent trails around Buffalo Pound Lake that differ in length and difficulty, but all offer gorgeous nature views and put you right in the wild. You can hike, bike, cross-country ski in the winter, trail run and bird watch across hills and prairies. For the longer trails, such as the Buffalo Pound Lake Loop that’s approximately 16.7 kilometres in length, bring a picnic along with you and make a day of it! If you’ve got the kids with you, there are plenty of call-and-response games and songs you can play on the way there and back. If you unexpectedly decide to go biking but didn’t bring your bike, Squirrely Putt & Play has front shock, and hard-tailed seats for rent, so you can explore the 30 kilometres of biking trails in the park! They even include a helmet in the rental to keep you safe!
